Much happens in this world that we have little or no control over, including the vagaries of Mother Nature. Last week while I was sitting in the comfort of a warm room protected from the elements, much of the country got slammed with frigid weather and almost incomprehensible amounts of snow. Power outages, frozen pipes, interstate closures, accidents and deaths jammed the headlines.
But one story, one image rose above the others. In Buffalo, NY, a group of firefighters were seen trudging through the snow, carrying a patient 10 blocks to the hospital. Even on a good day that would not have been an easy task. But to have walked that distance pushing through cold, wet, heavy snow makes it even more remarkable.
This is the time of year when we take a moment to slow down and become introspective. So, I want to take a moment to THANK all of the EMTs, firefighters, police, utility workers, and transportation folks who brave the storms, and often risk their lives, to help keep us safe.
Have a Happy, Healthy, and Safe Thanksgiving!
